Originally operating in Tyne and Wear in the 19th Century, John N Dunn Group Ltd. have developed to become a well-established building services company with a strong specialism in plumbing & heating, electrical and low carbon building solutions with a workforce 500 strong operating throughout the UK.
Prior to the adoption of EVision, John N Dunn were using a mixture of processes in Microsoft Excel and a bespoke database which was developed by a third party I.T. Consultant brought in to develop a business management system. Andrew Watson, I.T. Manager at John N Dunn commented: “As the business grew, it was becoming more and more costly to develop and run the bespoke system and harder to manage. This led to silos of data across the business with people holding information in Excel as well as in the bespoke system.”
The business decided to look to the market for a solution that could meet their requirements rather than continuing to incur costs building and running the bespoke solution. Andrew added “We looked at several solutions including those provided by COINS and TSG, but we wanted a solution that was construction specific and could handle our construction related processes. Having considered other solutions, we decided that EVision was the right fit for us as it is more suited to the industries in which we operate.”
EVision allows John N Dunn to easily share resources and data throughout the business from one location helping eradicate silos of data whilst providing full control of commercial, financial and operational processes.
Best of Breed Solutions
As EVision is built on modern technology utilising features of Microsoft Dynamics NAV, it is easy to integrate other best of breed solutions with it, helping you optimise the efficiencies of processes across the business. As well as using EVision, John N Dunn have implemented MiraclePay from Eque2’s recently acquired business Miracle Dynamics, which helps effectively manage payroll requirements for their 500-strong workforce. The company also uses Zetadocs Capture and Delivery from another one of Eque2’s partners, Equisys, which manages and stores documents eliminating the need to chase paper between departments. Jet Reports also helps John N Dunn create detailed reports utilising the real-time data held within EVision.
All the solutions mentioned above seamlessly integrate with the EVision construction ERP software helping further remove silos between departments and streamlining business processes.
John N Dunn have also implemented the Invoice Workbench module of EVision which allows them to electronically receive invoices, removing administrative tasks for the Purchase Ledger team. Prior to using EVision the company were six weeks behind posting invoices having already expanded the team from four to six to help the backlog. Since using the Invoice Workbench module, they have gone from averaging processing 150 invoices per person to 300 within the space of a day and are now looking at almost live invoice processing allowing them to reduce the team and proving that EVision can help customers gain greater efficiencies.
Andrew added “EVision has positively impacted the accuracy, efficiency and quality of information we have available throughout the business by streamlining a lot of our processes and allowing us to process double the number of invoices in the same amount of time. We are also able to drill further down into POs and invoices to see detail at a task level, so overall visibility has definitely improved”.
