In this article, we will be identifying the key reasons why construction companies are saying goodbye to manual spreadsheets and are embracing a purpose-built Sage job costing solution designed for those in the construction industry.
Read on to find out the specific reasons why three of our nineteen new customers in October have chosen to implement Construct for Sage 50 and how you too could benefit from cost and time efficiencies to support your business growth and help maximise your margins.
Griggs Homes are a long-established building contractor based in Hertfordshire, delivering high-quality homes within the northern home counties commuter belt just outside of London. Now in its third generation of family directorship, Griggs Homes were using Sage 50 alongside spreadsheets to conduct their job costing however they began looking for a new solution that would enable them to conduct live project reporting, manage their costs better and centralise their reports with a solution that worked in conjunction with Sage 50 to stop their need to duplicate the data from their spreadsheets into their Sage system.
With Construct for Sage 50, Griggs Homes will now be able to conduct three-way matching to account for invoices, purchase orders and receiving reports to ensure that only authorised purchases are reimbursed. Griggs Homes were also enthusiastic to improve their subcontractor management and how they pay their subcontractors. With the Delivery Note App, Griggs Homes will be able to see what work each of their subcontractors have completed each day in order to track their job profit and loss margins with greater oversight.
DT Civils operate in the water, gas, electricity, telecoms and civil engineering industries providing utility installation solutions for some of the UK’s largest Utility Infrastructure providers. Their processes involved an extensive duplication of records with each project manager spending approximately a day and a half each week compiling weekly CVR reports for the directors.
DT Civils were looking to reduce the workload involved in drafting their costs and revenue budgets, purchase orders, deliveries, invoices, applications and their valuations as they were unable to produce these reports fast enough to include in their weekly CVR report. One of the key features that attracted DT Civils to Construct for Sage 50 was the ability to feed data into system reports using the CVR template, which will alleviate their project managers from their weekly time extensive processes.
Conservation Builders are part of the Habitat First Group, a family-run development company founded on the principle of creating bespoke luxury holiday homes that embrace their surrounding nature. As they grew and began to see the volume of their plots per build increase, they found managing the purchasing of material, hiring labour and plant were becoming increasingly harder to record on spreadsheets and were seeing their amount of workload for their accounts teams increase.
As Conservation Builders wanted to address their increasing workload and move away from spreadsheets, they were highly interested how our Construct for Sage 50 job costing software solution could aid them with their purchase orders and CVR reporting as well as their budgeting structure and analysis.
