32 contractors select Eque2’s Sage construction accounting software in July

August 11, 2020

In this article, we will be exploring the reasons why contractors are putting an end to duplication when managing their project costs and contract values by selecting Construct for Sage, the market-leading job costing software for small to medium contractors.

Continue reading to find out the key reasons why three of our thirty-two new customers in July selected Eque2’s purpose-built Sage software, specifically designed to streamline and overcome any accounting challenges faced by contractors in the industry.

Narbeths Mechanical Services Ltd

Nartbeths Mechanical Services Ltd (NMS) are a heating and ventilation services contractor operating from Bridgend, Wales. NMS were originally using Sage 50 alongside several manually completed spreadsheets to manage their job costing processes.

Due to the size and the costs involved in their recently undertaken projects, NMS were looking for a job costing software that would allow them to alleviate the need for manual spreadsheets and enable them to easily manage their retentions, labour costs and sales applications. NMS were eager to find a construction job costing software that would allow them to conduct live reporting as they struggled to track the performance on their jobs due to their cumbersome journaling process.

After a free online consultation with Eque2, NMS were able to see how Construct for Sage would be able to seamlessly integrate with their existing Sage 50 Accounts and Sage Payroll systems to gain more control over the expenditures on their projects and maximise their profitability margins. Using Construct for Sage, NMS will now be able to work with live data and full visibility on the performance of each project.

Hewas Water Engineering Ltd

Hewas Water Engineering Ltd (HWE) are engineering consultants with a long-established reputation of providing structural steelwork services. Based in the South West, HWE are often subcontracted to facilitate the structural steel frames and metalwork on larger projects.

HWE were using Sage 50 Payroll and Sage 50 Accounts with the CIS module along with an ageing bespoke job costing system of their own that did not directly feed into Sage. This led to the duplication of processes through multiple separate systems. Without access to real-time information, HWE struggled to accurately track the costs and profit on each of their projects.

HWE wanted a contract management solution that was able to create P&L reports using live data on all of their projects. Following a product demonstration, HWE recognised how using Construct for Sage would enable them to efficiently bill job Variation, cost stock to projects, accurately know their stock level and conduct three-way-matching from order through to invoice on all materials.

Amos Group Ltd

Amos Group Ltd (Amos) are a family-ran niche property builder that provides bespoke property development and housing around the West Midlands area.

Amos were originally using Sage 50 Accounts with the Sage Job Costing module, managing each individual job on a spreadsheet, and manually inputting the information from the Sage Job Costing module. Amos often have more than 50 projects running and were finding their manual tracking of job costs to be highly time-consuming and unmanageable as they continue to grow.

Amos were keen to find a job costing software that could integrate with their Sage 50 Accounts, however, they recognised that Sage Job Costing did not go far enough to alleviate the need for manual spreadsheets to manage their jobs.

After considering the different construction job costing software available for Sage 50 Accounts, Eque2’s Construct for Sage was a clear winner for Amos. They were concerned that they would potentially have to stall their contract management processes every time their Sage Accounts package had an update, as other solutions in the market can only begin to update their software when Sage release their development script. As Eque2 are Sage’s strategic partner in the construction industry, Amos were thrilled to hear that Construct for Sage users do not have to deal with any ‘downtime’ following a Sage update.
