In this article, we will uncover how contractors can begin to streamline and simplify their job costing and contract management processes by selecting Construct for Sage, the market-leading job costing software for small to medium contractors.

Continue reading as we look into the key reasons why another 3 of our 32 new customers in July selected Construct for Sage construction accounting software to put an end to duplication when managing project costs and contract values.

Cold Clad Ltd

Cold Clad Ltd (Cold Clad) are an insulation contractor based in Gloucestershire. Founded in 2007, Cold Clad have established a strong reputation for providing external cladding, firewall construction, clean rooms, and temperature-controlled building systems.

Cold Clad were originally using Sage 50 Accounts alongside spreadsheets; however, this created a delay in data being shared due to the time their staff had to spend on completing manual processes. Looking to maximise their profits on their projects, CC recognised that they needed a construction industry-specific job costing software.

After considering the alternative solutions available on the market, Eque2’s Construct for Sage stood out to Cold Clad as the best job costing software that could fully integrate with their existing Sage 50 Accounts, creating a streamlined all-in-one accounting solution. With Eque2 being Sage’s strategic business partner for the construction industry, Cold Clad were able to see how using Construct for Sage in conjunction with their Sage 50 Accounts would deliver them a bespoke system that was able to fit all of their requirements.

Using Construct for Sage, Cold Clad will now be able to easily cost labour to their jobs, manage retentions and variations, minimise costs on hired plant, generate subcontractor certificates, and comply with CIS, conduct three-way matching for all deliveries and track performance against budget.

Stonegrove Ltd

Stonegrove Ltd (Stonegrove) are a Kent based mechanical & engineering contractor that provides heating, ventilation, and air conditioning services for local councils and businesses in the South East.

Stonegrove were initially using Sage 50 Accounts and Payroll with the Sage Job Costing module, however, they had begun looking to find a new Sage construction accounting software that could replace their Sage Job Costing module as it is no longer supported and out of date with their processes. After attending one of our free educational webinars, the Finance Manager at Stonegrove contacted Eque2 to find out more about the market-leading job costing software, Construct for Sage.

Following a demonstration from one of our product specialists, Stonegrove were able to see how Construct for Sage works with live data and would give them greater analysis from project profit and cost reporting. They were also thrilled to see how Construct for Sage would enable them to better control costs by allowing them to easily manage their retentions, hired plant and variations on their projects.

Barnack Estates UK Ltd

Barnack Estates UK Ltd (Barnack) are a Cambridgeshire based commercial design & build contractor. Originally incorporated as a confectionary company in 1984, Barnack moved into the construction industry in 2004.

Barnack were originally using Sage 50 Accounts alongside manual spreadsheets to handle their job costing and contract management, however, they were in the market for a construction-specific job costing software that would allow them to streamline their processes.

Barnack were using separate spreadsheets to record each project, with categories of over 30 different budget items and found themselves often re-keying the same transaction up to eight times. This led to Barnack seeking a new, modern job costing software that would alleviate the need for cumbersome spreadsheets.

Barnack also wanted job costing software that could handle plot-based costing with an extensive level of analysis to track profit and losses. Following a free non-obligatory online demonstration of Construct for Sage, Barnack were able to see how they can track costs and manage their retentions without the need for duplication. They were also relieved to see that Construct for Sage will enable them to be fully compliant with the VAT Reverse Charge taking effect in April 2021.

Barnack felt confident that Construct for Sage would be able to replace their out of date job costing software and allow them to eradicate the need to complete manual spreadsheets for the job costing areas that weren’t possible before while using Sage Job Costing.
