Job costing software leads to happier staff and clients at Melavid

Many contractors continue to use disparate unaligned processes to manage their job costing needs, and tend to struggle with the amount of effort it takes to manage data in often two or three different systems, alongside multiple spreadsheets.

More and more contractors are searching for ways to ease the burden on their employees by implementing construction-specific job costing software that helps to speed up the amount of time it takes staff to pull reports and remove the need for them to enter the same data into different places.

Prior to selecting Eque2, Melavid used JNC and a self-written independent database alongside Sage Accounts and Payroll to manage their job costing and accounts processes.

The business struggled with issues stemming from reporting and non-aligned processes which meant they struggled to obtain up to date job costing data in real-time. Also due to the three systems previously in place, the business faced a constant effort in trying to limit duplication of data entry and other time-consuming processes such as managing the upkeep of numerous spreadsheets.

After going to market and internally reviewing job costing solutions, Melavid selected to implement Construct for Sage 50. The business was very impressed with the features within Construct and appreciated how the solution would help against the challenges the business faced.

The business also liked the systems subcontractor functionality which will allow Melavid to manage subcontractor applications, retentions, certificates and insurances in one solution without having to manually visit the HMRC website.

Melavid also selected to implement three popular modules which are optional for Construct customers and help to further streamline process and provide more detailed analysis on contracts. These included the Mobile Delivery Note App to reconcile stock deliveries versus what is actually delivered onsite. They also selected the Invoice Capture Module to electronically capture invoices as a conscious effort to work towards a paperless office, and the systems advanced reporting module, ICA, which provides in-depth construction specific job costing reports such as WIP reports, using live data in the familiar environment of Excel.
