September 16, 2019

In this article we will look at some of the reasons why 18 new contractors selected Construct for Sage 50 Accounts in the month of August and moved away from manual spreadsheets, to support business growth and to maximise margins.

Continue reading below to discover some of the challenges faced and the key reasons behind why contractors are implementing the popular, market-leading contract job costing solution – Construct for Sage 50 Accounts.

FIVE Interiors Ltd

FIVE Interiors Ltd (FIVE Interiors) are one of the UK’s leading workplace design and build experts specialising in workplace design, fit out, refurbishment and relocations for businesses across the UK.

FIVE Interiors were previously using Sage 50 Accounts alongside manual spreadsheets for its range of job costing needs. The business required a modern contract job costing solution that could provide it with live cost and profit reports for each of its projects, which it previously found difficult, inaccurate and time consuming to extract.

The business also struggled to record applications and was unable to assign labour costs to individual projects, which made it difficult to establish if a project has been successful or not, and if any margins had been made.

Calling in Eque2 to demo Construct for Sage 50 Accounts, Five Interiors recognised how the popular job costing solution would help to eliminate the challenges the business faced.

Tag Construction Limited

TAG Construction Ltd (Tag Construction) is a leading family-owned Construction, Rail and Civil Engineering contractor with over 25 years of industry experience. Having recently moved to Sage 50 Accounts, Tag Construction found themselves using extensive manual spreadsheets to manage and track their job costing processes.

With Sage Accounts unable to manage and track construction-specific processes, Tag Construction struggled to generate and report on their range of construction projects accurately, in particular the business was unable to pull Work in Progress reports and was unaware of how it was progressing on individual projects until after completion.

After a successful software demonstration, Tag Construction made the decision to implement Construct for Sage 50 Accounts and are now looking forward to using the new solution to report on the business’s entire range of construction.

Tag Construction will also be able to track and manage applications, variations and retentions in one integrated system through to final accounts.

Gartell & Son Ltd

Gartell & Son specialise in groundworks and general construction for the agriculture and industrial sectors.

The business was looking for a modern job costing solution that could integrate with their Sage Accounts package and enable the business to pull accurate construction-specific reports in real-time, across its range of projects.

In particular, the business was unable to report on Work in Progress and Cost-Value-Reconciliation or extract any other meaningful or accurate data using manual spreadsheets, as this was too time consuming, susceptible to corruption and prevented the business from making decisive decisions. After a successful software demonstration, Gartell & Son made the decision to implement Construct for Sage 50 Accounts.
