With a view to sourcing a complementary e-procurement service for Skanska’s existing business-wide Intuita ERP software, Sage Construction worked closely with Skanska over a 12 month period to examine existing procurement processes used across their operational units and to develop several e-procurement processing models. These models were designed to improve the efficiency of Skanska’s established procurement practices without requiring large scale business process re-engineering.
Steven Capper, IT Director at Skanska, said “The key requirement was flexibility from both the e-procurement hub services provider and also from the facilities available in Intuita’s e-commerce workbench which allows our users to define and configure Intuita to meet a variety of e-commerce processing strategies.”
Collaboratively, Sage Construction and Skanska examined the capabilities of a number of different e-commerce service providers, resulting in Skanska selecting Asite’s award-winning collaborative Software as a Service technology (cSaaS). Asite’s e-procurement and supply chain integrations solutions with hosted catalogue capablities will operate throughout the entire organisation, across Skanska’s supply chain relationships, and will be integrated with Skanska’s back-office business-wide system, Sage ERP Intuita.
A single integrated solution for the procurement process across their portfolio of construction and facilities management works means Skanska employees and their supply chain partners will use Asite e-procurement to manage their purchasing cycle – tendering, purchasing, delivery logistics and goods receipt, and payment processes. By automating and streamlining the purchasing process, Asite’s technology significantly reduces transaction costs and will ensure that Skanska are furthering their aim of creating true partnerships with their supply chain.
Andy MacAskill, Skanska UK Supply Chain Director, said “We are delighted to be working with Asite… [Asite] will be an important part of our vision to deliver a One Skanska best practice approach to the procurement of materials, products, services and subcontract packages throughout project lifecycles. The implementation of eProcurement will provide significant efficiency benefits to our supply chain and contribute to establishing Skanska as the leading construction procurer in the UK.”
