June 18, 2018

McAndrew Utilities are a utilities installer located in Derbyshire. McAndrew deliver services essential to the development and maintenance of infrastructure assets, and specialise in the installation of water mains and services, gas mains and services, ducting and cabling, and of drainage. The company is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 18001, and ISO 14001 standards, and is ConstructionOnline & CHAS accredited.

Fenland Flat Roofing is a roofing supplier and fitter specialising in flat roofing systems and structural waterproofing. The company works within the residential, commercial, educational and public sectors and offers liquid coating solutions, bio-diverse roofing and metal decks. Fenland has previously worked on projects such as the HSBC World HQ in Canary Wharf, the Sterling Award-winning Duxford Aircraft Museum in Cambridge, and The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.

Prior to selecting Eque2, McAndrew’s used manual spreadsheets alongside Sage Accounts. Realising the business required a dedicated construction-specific software solution to help sustain the company’s growth, McAndrew’s came to market to review its options.

The businesses requirements included wanting to be able to see how well they were performing on a job, enabling them to see profitability on a project. They also wanted a built-in ordering solution, which enabled real-time reporting with detailed views into committed, accrued and actual costs. Going to market, McAndrew’s called in both Integrity and Eque2 to demo their respective solutions, ultimately opting to implement Eque2’s Construct for Sage alongside EValuate estimating software to gain a fully integrated solution from initial estimate, through project delivery, to final accounts.

Fenland Flat Roofing used JNC to log revenue, and manual spreadsheets for all other processes before adopting Construct for Sage and EValuate from Eque2. The company used Sage 50 for their accounts, and were very happy with its functionality, the key challenge for the business was the pulling together of information from several places to create WIP schedules and margin analysis. The company also wanted to be able to manage hired plant better to stop otherwise hidden costs being incurred on projects, in addition to keeping track of retentions and logging labour against estimates.

Fenland were satisfied that the functionality in Construct and EValuate would work for them and would provide the business with a full view of how a project is performing, manage their ordering and billing processes through one integrated system by original estimate, and the tracking of budgeted vs actual amounts. Fenland also look forward to using EValuate to speed up the process of pricing jobs, and to create and maintain a central repository of historical cost data for all projects.

Eque2 has welcomed a number of new clients over the last few months, if you’d like to be part of our growing Construct community and help move your business forward click here or telephone 0161 939 0111.
